Stress Arising from Eating Disorders

Abnormal eating habits that can negatively impact your physical and/ or your mental health is called an eating disorder. Some eating disorders include anorexia nervosa, bulimia nervosa, binge eating disorder etc. This is not just a “phase” or a “fad”. These are serious mental disorders that are debilitating. Eating in excess or eating too little can significantly impact your physical and mental health. It can even be life-threatening. Encouraging people to understand that their struggles with eating are nothing to be ashamed of, but something to slowly recover from is crucial in this day and age. Various forms of media feed into a negative self-image which leads to the development of eating disorders. Sharing your feelings about how food impacts you and hearing from people who feel the same can make you feel less isolated and more understood.
